The ever popular Brasted village fete will be held on Saturday 18th July at the village recreation ground with attractions appealing to all ages and will be opened by Penny Stephens at 1.30pm.

There will be plenty of activities in the arena including a children’s fancy dress parade and competition and a children’s sports day. There will be no entry forms for these activities, just check for details and timings in the free fete programme and be at the arena in good time before the event starts. Pre registration will be required, however, for the fun dog show and the duck race, again details will be in the programme, which will be distributed door to door during June as well as being available on the day.

Outside the arena, there will be plenty of amusement stalls and trade stalls selling a wide variety of goods as well as a book and bric a brac stall, run by the fete committee. The friendly fireman from Westerham will be there with one of their engines and Kent Police and the North Kent Safety Panel will also be available to answer questions and provide advice on crime prevention. Brasted Parish Councillors will also be on hand to answer questions about their work and other local issues. For anyone wanting to dig deep into their pockets and buy a gift for themselves or someone special, the charity auction again features some great items, which will be sure to attract some enthusiastic bidding.

Music will be provided almost throughout the afternoon starting at noon for early starters with Achilles Reel followed by the Biggin Hillbillies and the day will be rounded off with a hot air balloon demonstration and launch, with a place on board for one successful bidder at the auction. If you have worked up an appetite and a thirst after all of this, teas and cakes, a barbeque, beer, wine and Pimms, ice cream and sweets will all be available throughout the afternoon.

All profits from the fete will be divided between Brasted and Sundridge Evergreens, Brasted village and Chart recreation grounds, Brasted village hall and Kent Air Ambulance. Last year, we donated a record £3,700 to local worthy causes. I’m looking forward to good weather and to seeing you all there on the day.
