Hever Castle dates back to 1270 when the massive Gatehouse, the outer walls and the moat were first constructed. 200 years later the Bullen (or Boleyn) family added a comfortable Tudor dwelling-house inside the walls. Hever Castle was the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, second wife of Henry VIII and mother of Elizabeth I, and the Castle contains many memories of her.
